In Brief: SpongeBob anxiously waits by the mailbox for a toy he sent for in the mail.
Story: SpongeBob is shopping at Barg N' Mart and puts a box of Kelpo in his shopping cart. He reads the label that says "Free Prize!" SpongeBob and Gary go home and he immediately dumps out all the cereal and starts to eat it. SpongeBob reads the box again and discovers it really says, "Free Prize Offer Inside" and he has to send in 99 box tops to get it. SpongeBob and Gary scarf down cereal like crazy. Gary meows giving SpongeBob the idea to send in the box tops before eating the cereal. SpongeBob stuffs the box tops in an envelope and goes out to wait by the mailbox for his toy.
A few seconds later Patrick shows up right beside SpongeBob. When SpongeBob tells him he's waiting for his free toy Patrick excitedly asks to wait with him. The mailman comes but just hands SpongeBob three envelopes and nothing else. They both continue to wait by the mailbox but after a while their stomachs start to growl. Patrick tells SpongeBob that he's hungry and suggests they go down to the Krusty Krab for a Krabby Patty. SpongeBob starts to leave but stops and clings to the mailbox. He's worried that the mailman will come while he's gone. Patrick is so hungry his stomach is chewing on his arm so he leaves. SpongeBob checks the mailbox several times when all of a sudden Sandy jumps in. He grabs her and flips her on her back. SpongeBob tells Sandy he's too busy so she brushes herself off and walks away. Gary then pushes his food bowl by SpongeBob's foot but he tells him he can't feed him now.
Patrick gets back from the Krusty Krab. He tells SpongeBob he missed his surprise birthday party. Patrick brings him a present and a piece of cake. He holds the cake in his mouth while he digs in his pockets for a fork. He ends up accidently eating the cake though. SpongeBob asks what the present is so Patrick opens it up revealing it's a fork. SpongeBob starts to cry and complains he's been waiting his whole life for the toy but Patrick tells him he's only been waiting 20 minutes. He tells Patrick he's been mean to both Gary and Sandy. As SpongeBob is sobbing the mailman walks up and says he needs a signature for a package. Patrick asks him to come back later because SpongeBob's having a moment. SpongeBob tells him that people like him don't deserve moments and he signs for the package. He opens the box up revealing a purple and green headed toy. SpongeBob and Patrick are both so excited and look at how beautiful the toy is. Patrick touches it and the spring pops out. SpongeBob is devastated. Patrick tries to fix it but it gets even worse. SpongeBob and Patrick both sob uncontrollably. Squidward walks by and starts to walk to his house. He tells himself to keep walking and not to make eye contact. Squidward goes upstairs and starts to practice his clarinet but can't he's so bothered by SpongeBob and Patrick's whining. Squidward goes outside to find out why they're so upset. SpongeBob tries to explain to Squidward what happened. Squidward pops the head back into place and makes the toy as good as new. SpongeBob and Patrick hug Squidward and ask how they can ever repay him. He tells them to move to another neighborhood.

Quotes:
Patrick: You missed your surprise birthday party, so I just wanted to bring you a present and some cake because you missed it.
SpongeBob: My birthday party? I missed my birthday party?
Patrick: Yeah, see? *shows present and cake* Here's a present and your cake.
SpongeBob: My birthday cake.
Patrick: Yeah. Let me just get you a fork so you can eat it. Uh, let me just hold the cake like this, *holds the piece of cake between his teeth* so I can get you a fork. *digs in pocket* Huh, I wonder where I put that fork. *notices he ate the cake* Oops.
SpongeBob: That was my cake. What is the present?
Patrick: Oh, yeah! A fork!
Mailman: SpongeBob SquarePants?
Patrick: Could you come back later? He's having a moment.
Mailman: Yeah. I just need a signature for...
Patrick: I said he's having a moment! Now leave him alone!

SpongeBob's birthday How could SpongeBob not know it was his own birthday?
Feeding Gary This isn't the first time SpongeBob neglects Gary. He's also too busy to feed him in "Have You Seen This Snail?" causing him to run away.
