In Brief: SpongeBob gets a pet seahorse. When he must bring "Mystery" to work, she's a big problem.
Story: It's the beginning of spring in Bikini Bottom, and SpongeBob decides to plant Squidward some flowers. While planting, they somehow get eaten whenever SpongeBob looks away to get a watering can. Eventually, he learns that his plant eater is a beautiful seahorse. He decides he wants to tame her. After studying the seahorse, SpongeBob names her Mystery because of her mysterious behavior. The two quickly become buddies and do lots of fun things together. The next day, SpongeBob rides Mystery to work. He has her wait outside while tied to a pole until he's done with his shift. After she attacks Scooter (he and his buddy thought she was a coin-operated ride), Mr. Krabs comes out to see what's going on. He discovers the seahorse, and when SpongeBob claims it, he demands SpongeBob to get rid of her or himself. Because SpongeBob really likes Mystery, he disobeys his boss and hides her in a kitchen cabinet until Patrick finishes building a stable. Mr. Krabs heaers a neigh from the kitchen, and becomes suspicious, but SpongeBob fools him by saying he was imitating Mystery. After that, SpongeBob places an order of Krabby Patties on the order window, and Mystery eats them. Squidward finds out that SpongeBob's keeping Mystery in the kitchen, but just ignores it. Trouble starts when SpongeBob sees Mystery ate his Krusty Krab hat, spatula, the stove, all the Krabby Patties, and Old Man Jenkins. When Mr. Krabs finds all the customers angry because they're not getting their food, Squidward tells them it's because of Mystery and SpongeBob. Krabs is mad that SpongeBob still has her, but convinces him to release the seahorse by telling him a story about having to get rid of a dollar. He manages to get rid of Mystery (which is hard for him, but easy for her). When Squidward tells Mr. Krabs she ate most of his money, Krabs and SpongeBob chase after her.

Quotes:
Scooter: Hey look. Mr. Krabs put in a kiddie ride.
Scooter's Friend: Why don't you try it out?
Scooter: *studies Mystery* I can't find the coin slot...here it is. *Scooter pushes the coin into Mystery off-camera; she kicks him into the distance; he explodes when he hits the ground*
Scooter's Friend: Yee-ahh! Help! Kiddie ride on the loose!
SpongeBob: She's my friend. Her name is Mystery.
Mr. Krabs: You're a mystery, SpongeBob.
Mr. Krabs: SpongeBob, what was that? Is that horse in here?
SpongeBob: No, Mr. Krabs. I was just doing my imitation of Mystery. Wee-snaw!
Mr. Krabs: Well, keep workin' on it! That was terrible!
Squidward: *crying when Mr. Krabs wants SpongeBob to get rid of Mystery; stops sobbing* Hey, who left this bowl of onions here?
Mr. Krabs: The kitchen is no place for a live horse.
Customers: Huh? *spit their chewed food on the floor*
SpongeBob: *after Mystery leaves for good, Patrick walks by; SpongeBob doesn't notice and continues crying* Just get outta here you stupid, dumb animal! *Patrick walks away*
Observations:
Empty Rock Patrick has nothing under his rock but flat sand (there's no underground living area, like in most episodes).
Flowers Patrick has five lavender, red polka-dotted flowers that grew by his house, and SpongeBob and Squidward each have three.
SpongeBob's Gardening Outfit:
-Blue overalls -Green Gloves -Red shoes (which he wears over his normal shoes) -Brown hat
Other Names SpongeBob's other ideas of names for Mystery are Grace, Majesty, and Debbie.
Activities SpongeBob and Mystery do Together:
-Dance around -Give each other rides on their backs -Blow bubbles -Paint a portrait -Stick postal stamps on each other -Buy and wear hats
SpongeBob's Surroundings When Mystery paints a portrait of SpongeBob, things that surround him are a red curtain, several pillows, and a bowl of fruit (which has grapes, a pear, a pineapple, orange, and apple).
Lots of Stamps In the scene where SpongeBob and Mystery put postage stamps on each other, 42 stamps can be seen.
Unsafe Squid Squidward also gets in a biking accident and tumbles down a hill and explodes in "Jellyfishing."
Moved The grill is in the back of the kitchen in this episode, just like in "Your Shoe's Untied."
