In Brief: SpongeBob and Patrick are watching the Mermalair while Mermaidman and Barnacleboy are on vacation, and they meet Manray, a super-villan who promises he'll be good if the boys set him free.

Story: While on vacation, Mermaidman and Barnacleboy have SpongeBob and Patrick watch the Mermalair. After the men leave, Patrick finds Mermaidman and Barnacleboy's villain, Manray, frozen in a tartar sauce tank. Spongebob mentions he has so many questions to ask to Manray, so Patrick unfreezes his head, which they weren't supposed to do. Manray says he'll be good if the two release him, so SpongeBob does so. However, Manray wants to be evil, but his "Ticklebelt," a belt he wears that tickles him when he's bad, stops him. To get it off, he pretends he wants to learn how to be nice so he can be released. Patrick and SpongeBob decide to teach him how.

Manray's first goodness lesson is to give Patrick back his dropped wallet. Manray tries to be polite and give it back, but Patrick gets confused and won't accept it. Manray threatens to rip his arms off, which isn't nice to do, so SpongeBob activates his tickle belt.

Goodness lesson #2 is where Manray must help Patrick, who's struggling to carry a heavy box. He offers to help, but Patrick keeps dropping it on his foot. He gets angry from him dropping it on his foot twice and slams Patrick on the ground. SpongeBob activates his tickle belt again.

SpongeBob can't think of another goodness lesson, so Patrick (who is hurt from all the slammings) makes Manray guess the number he's thinking of. His guess is wrong, so Patrick activates his belt. Then, Patrick and SpongeBob fight over the belt's hand control and break it. The belt goes out of control and Manray says "please" when begging to stop the belt SpongeBob takes it off. Now free, Manray takes some weapons and runs off.

SpongeBob and Patrick get into their Mermaidman and Barnacleboy outfits and try stopping Manray with the "Orb of Confusion," but confuse themselves. Manray tries robbing a bank, but he's not evil without his belt. He comes to turn off the Orb of Confusion for SpongeBob and tells him his teachings have made him nice. After he walks off, SpongeBob sees Patrick is still confused, even though the Orb's off.

Song: (none)

Manray: I'm...FREE! *laughs*

SpongeBob: Uh-actually, Mr.-uh-Manray sir, only your head is free.

SpongeBob: Good people don't rip other peoples' arms off!

Patrick: What's that smell, SpongeBob?

SpongeBob: That, Patrick, is the smell of defeat.

Patrick: Good. I thought it was my skin.

Manray: No need to be alarmed, SpongeBob. Your teachings have transformed me. Besides, I have checks with little poodles on them. *holds up a check with a picture of a poodle on it*

No Appearance Squidward doesn't appear in this episode or Squirrel Jokes.

Lots of Luggage Mermaidman and Barnacleboy bring four suitcases with them for their vacation.

Extra Finger Manray has four fingers and a thumb, unlike SpongeBob, Mermaidman, and Barnacleboy.

Human Hand An actual human hand in a blue glove appears to be holding the close-up of Patrick's ID for Manray when it's shown. Actual hands in gloves also appear to be used in the beginning of this episode when Mermaidman and Barnacleboy smack fists (but I'm not entirely sure on that, as their arms attached to their hands appear to be drawn).

Patrick's Address Patrick's ID says he lives on 120 Conch St.

Effects on Patrick After Manray Beats Him Up:

-He has a wheelchair

-He has a sling on his left arm

-A cast on his left leg

-A cast on his right arm

-A big bulge on his head

-Two bandages on his bulge on his head

Mermaidman and Barnacleboy Suits SpongeBob and Patrick's Mermaidman and Barnacleboy suits are also featured in "Mermaidman and Barnacleboy."

Later Appearances in the Series The First Nautical Bank later appears in "Doing Time." Manray later appears in "Mermaidman and Barnacleboy V" (and he's back to being evil in this episode).

Patrick's Teeth Patrick has seven visible teeth when he is dazed after the Orb of Confusion is turned off.

Invisible Boat Mobile When SpongeBob crashes the Invisible Boat Mobile into a street light, the shape of the dented pole shows that the boat is shaped like a ship. In "Mermaidman and Barnacleboy IV," the Invisible Boat Mobile is an actual old-fashioned car.
