In Brief: SpongeBob ends up working in a fancy restuarant after trading places with a French chef.

Story: SpongeBob rings the bell at the Krusty Krab. He blows a heart to Squidward, who accidently swallows it. Squidward acts like he's choking. While he's complaining and think he's poisoned SpongeBob goes and talks to a customer. He takes him two double Krabby Patties with a side of coral bits and a diet soda (and topped with a little extra love). He reaches into his chest, pulls out a heart and sprinkles it on the Krabby Patties. SpongeBob comments to Squidward that the Krusty Krab food is quality food. Squidward says only pathetic losers with horrible taste would eat this garbage. He takes away a Krabby Patty, making a customer cry. SpongeBob comes and rocks them like a baby. He tells Squidward the Krusty clientele needs to be cuddled and treated with respect. As SpongeBob feeds the customer Mr. Krabs comes in. He calls all the customers bilge rats and tells them to get out. He even tips the Krusty Krab forward and dumps the remainder of the customers out. SpongeBob asks Mr. Krabs what's going on so he tells him he's turning the Krusty Krab into a fancy French restuarant. He also explains a chef is coming from a chef exchange program. SpongeBob is told he'll be shipped off to another restuarant. The bus pulls up and SpongeBob is kicked on. Another bus pulls up behind it. The new French chef gets out. He kisses Squidward and Mr. Krabs because it's his culture. He spits afterwards because he finds them disgusting.

SpongeBob's bus arrives at the French restuarant. The head chef kisses SpongeBob and puts him to work. SpongeBobs runs to a pot, puts in some ingredients and then takes out a Krabby Patty, blows a kiss and a heart shows up. The head chef grabs the heart and crushes it in the air. He puts the patty in SpongeBob's mouth and pulls his nose, causing him to eat it. SpongeBob starts to chop some vegetables. He turns them into a Krabby Patty. SpongeBob laughs nervously. SpongeBob tries several more things (even turning eggs in Krabby Patties). The Head Chef tells SpongeBob he is making a mockery of him. As he is talking a Krabby Patty accidently lands in his mouth. He says it taste fantastic and eats another one and tells SpongeBob the whole world must taste them.

Back at the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs holds up a plate with a little fruit for Squidward to see. He tells him they're charging 52 smackeroos for that little thing. Mr. Krabs asks the new chef if his food is supposed to smell like a rotten gym sock. He tells Mr. Krabs the smell can only be neutralized by shredded gold. Mr. Krabs screams and takes the gold away from him and asks if they could use something a little less expensive. He explains to Mr. Krabs that price is no object when dealing with exquisite food. Also, he explains his food must be eaten with the finest silverware while sitting in the fanciest chairs. Le Schnook sits down and notices that this isn't the chair he ordered. Mr. Krabs tells him that was out of stock. Le Schnook also notices the silverware is really plastic painted with silver paint. He complains that he cannot prepare food under these conditions.

Meanwhile, at the Fancy Restuarant the Head Chef is so happy with SpongeBob he kisses him again. SpongeBob's watch goes off and he goes to walk out because his time is over the exchange program. The Head Chef stops him and tells him the customers have grown quite fond of his Krabby Patties and he needs to stay. SpongeBob takes all his patties and puts them in a sack to take with him. SpongeBob turns to leave again but a customer holds onto his leg and asks for just one more Krabby Patty. The scene switches to Mr. Krabs at the Krusty Krab (which is closed down and gone bankrupt) as he gets a phone call from Pearl. She thinks there are burglers in the house but Mr. Krabs tells her those are just repo men. Mr. Krabs hangs up the phone and notices Squidward is being held by two men. Mr. Krabs tells Squidward until he can come up with some money he'll be staying with these men. Le Schnook comes in the office and Mr. Krabs tells him he's all he's got left. Le Schnook corrects Mr. Krabs and says not quite. He tells Mr. Krabs his time has expired and he's leaving and hands him a bill. Repo men take away Mr. Krabs' desk and chairs while he's sitting there. He starts to cry and says he's been such a fool. SpongeBob comes and when he speaks Mr. Krabs thinks he's hearing things at first. He finally notices SpongeBob (plus a huge group of customers he brought with him). Squidward asks Mr. Krabs why he can't at least give the customers tables. He tells Squidward he doesn't have to buy their affection and throws a bucket of patties at them and they eat like pigs. SpongeBob blows another kiss at Squidward, who chokes on it as SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs laugh.

Observations:

Becoming Fancy This isn't the first time the Krusty Krab is turned into a fancy restaurant. It also becomes one in "Squlliam Returns" and again in "Bucket Sweet Bucket".

Off Screen Appearance This is Pearl's only appearance in Season 5. She is not seen though, only heard talking on the phone.

Change of Menu In "Nature Pants" and "Patty Hype", SpongeBob serves french fries. In this episode, fries are replaced with coral bits.

Reopening This is the second Krusty Krab Grand Reopening. The first was in "Born Again Krabs."
