In Brief: Mr. Krabs makes the Krusty Krab a destination for kids to get them to buy Krabby Patties.
Story: It is June 21, the first day of summer in Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob is very cheerful and shows his summer spirit at the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs is happy because now kids are out of school and will wander around town with lots of money. He looks forward to the true meaning of summer - making lots of money from them.
Mr. Krabs waits all day for kids, but they don't come to the restaurant. The children are playing at a playground, and Krabs doesn't know how to get them away from it. Then, he comes up with an idea.
The next day, SpongeBob discovers that Mr. Krabs has built a playground called Krabby Land at the Krusty Krab. Kids can't wait for him to unveil it. When he does, they see the playground is just junk. Mr. Krabs hands out liability waivers, saying whoever fills theirs out gets to meet Krabby the Clown. The children are excited for that.
Mr. Krabs puts SpongeBob in charge of entertaining the kids. SpongeBob blows bubble jellyfish and seahorses, but the kids find him lame. That is, until one of his bubbles pop and the soap gets in his eyes. The kids laugh at him in pain, so he entertains them by hurting himself.
The kids have raised enough money for Mr. Krabs to let Krabby the Clown visit. They are thrilled, but disappointed when their clown is just Mr. Krabs in a clown nose and tie telling them to buy Krabby Patties. SpongeBob is saddened that Mr. Krabs could do such a greedy thing. Mr. Krabs makes his way out of the window with a lot of money and ends up getting chased and beaten by the angry children. SpongeBob then finds a boy throwing Krabs's money off the roof and all the kids cheering. This, he believes, is the true meaning of summer.
Song: SpongeBob's Summer Carol
Walking in the grass
It's all fine
Don't need shoes in the summertime
Quotes:
SpongeBob: *sips drink* Ahhh. I don't know how you do it, Gare Bear, but that's the best cup of French toast I've ever had!
SpongeBob: What is it about summertime that makes us so happy? The firefly-lit nights? The intoxicating aroma of a charcoal briquette? The hypnotic sound of a lawnmower running over a flip-flop?
Mr. Krabs: Sure, I suppose some will try to take advantage of this situation by selling them toys or candy. But I sleep well at night, with the knowledge that I provide something they need. Nutritious meals. Come here, ya little piggies!
SpongeBob: I've been taught the true meaning of summer.
Mr. Krabs: *as Krabby the Clown* Hey kids. Uh, thank you all for coming. Thank you. Eat plenty of Krabby Patties! *walks into his office laughing*
SpongeBob: *crying* You promised these children Krabby the Clown, but all I saw out there was...Cheapy the Cheapskate!
Mr. Krabs: Hey, I ain't cheap! *takes off blue clown nose, rubs it on clothes until its red* Now take this tomato back to the kitchen before it's spoiled.
Mr. Krabs: The children? I don't care about the children! I just care about their parents' money!
