In Brief: Squidward turns kind after being shocked by his electric fence.

Story: SpongeBob and Patrick sit in Squidward's bedroom while he's sleeping. Patrick whispers to SpongeBob to pass the chips. Their talking wakes up Squidward. He asks them what they're doing in his bedroom. SpongeBob tells him they're waiting to watch the sunrise with him. SpongeBob explains that they come to Squidward's bedroom every morning. Patrick says it's their favorite past time and waves a foam finger. SpongeBob opens a book and shows Squidward pictures of him sleeping dressed up for different holidays, like Valentine's Day, Easter and the 4th of July. Squidward asks SpongeBob and Patrick if they remember what he told them happens to his brain everytime he sees them. SpongeBob begs to tell the story and does. Squidward rambles on for 3 hours about how much he doesn't like and doesn't want to see SpongeBob and Patrick. As he does the sun rises behind him and SpongeBob thanks him for sharing the moment. Squidward screams for them to get out.

Later, Squidward is putting up a fence to seperate himself from SpongeBob and Patrick. They walk up and thank Squidward for welcoming them to his "tentwarming party." Squidward tells them to have a seat to join his picnic. They sit at the picnic table which is placed on top of a catapult. Squidward launches SpongeBob and Patrick out of his yard and turns on his electric fence. They land right back in Squidward's yard again. SpongeBob and Patrick cheer for Squidward to do it again. Squidward screams for them to get out. He touches the knob to his electric fence and is severly electricuted. Squidward's brain doesn't storm anymore and a rainbow comes out above it. SpongeBob and Patrick leave to go to the petting zoo and say goodbye to Squidward. As they're walking out Squidward asks if there will be cute seahorses there and little scallops that nibble on your fingers. SpongeBob says that there would be. Squidward asks if he can tag along with SpongeBob and Patrick, who are absolutely thrilled to have him coming with them.

SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward have a day of fun together doing a lot of activities including petting a seahorse, riding a ferris wheel and taking pictures in a photo booth. Later, the bus drops them off in front of their house. Squidward happily runs in his house. SpongeBob asks Patrick if he noticed anything different about Squidward, who thinks he's happy because he got new glasses. Squidward pops his head out the window and says goodnight to Bikini Bottom and "I Love You!" Patrick still thinks he's happy about his new glasses. The next morning, Squidward is waiting by SpongeBob's bed and wakes him up sounding like his alarm clock. Squidward tells SpongeBob that he was right and watching the sunrise together is much better. SpongeBob reads the paper while drinking his coffee. Squidward grabs his coffee cup and then helps him floss his teeth. The two of them then walk to work together. At the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob is happy to be alone with the Krabby Patties and is ready to work. Squidward pops in and says he wants to help SpongeBob work. SpongeBob tells him that he's chief fry cook and he works alone. He sticks his head out the ordering window and says loud enough so Mr. Krabs can hear that Squidward is distracting him. Mr. Krabs grabs Squidward and pulls him out front and tells him to wait on the customers.

Squidward walks around to different customers asking them how they're doing and if they're enjoying their meal. Squidward offers a little kid tarter sauce and then gives him a free hat. He then offers free refills. Mr. Krabs hears the word free and comes out of his office to scold Squidward. He tells Squidward that his customers come for cheap food and verbal abuse and if he can't get it right, get back in the kitchen with SpongeBob. SpongeBob comes out of the bathroom and sees Squidward holding a plate of Krabby Patties that he made. SpongeBob tells him that these will never do and it takes years of practice before he'd be up to it. He's about to throw them away until Mr. Krabs stops him. SpongeBob tells him that the patties are no good cause Squidward made them and he's not a real fry cook. Mr. Krabs explains that he is now and tells SpongeBob to give him an apron and put him to work. He then says that Squidward might be just as good a fry cook as SpongeBob is. Later, both SpongeBob and Squidward are at the grill. Squidward mentions to SpongeBob that he's been employee of the month a gazillion times and he wishes he could be employee of the month. SpongeBob corrects him and says he's been employee of the month a gazillion and six times and to keep dreaming. Mr. Krabs comes in the kitchen and shows them a Krabby Patty with dimples. SpongeBob blames Squidward for it but Mr. Krabs loves them and appoints him the new employee of the month.

Patrick walks in the Krusty Krab with a pink box in his hand. It's a birthday cake for the new Employee of the Month with SpongeBob's picture on it. SpongeBob tells Patrick that Squidward is the new Employee of the Month, not him. Patrick asks SpongeBob to help him spell Squidward and SpongeBob smears out his name on the cake and writes Squidward's name in it's place. Patrick announces to everyone there will be a party at his house. Later, everyone is enjoying the party under Patrick's rock while SpongeBob sits looking very depressed. Patrick and Squidward pogo dance together which makes SpongeBob furious. He yells for the party to stop and confronts Squidward. He tells him that he can take his job and his place on the Employee of the Month Hall of Fame, but nobody pogo dances with Patrick except him. Squidward leaves very sad and goes over to his house. He touches the knob on his electric fence and is shocked again. SpongeBob comments to Patrick that he was a little too hard on Squidward and walks over to his house to apologize. Squidward is still being shocked as SpongeBob is talking. He tells Squidward he is sorry for being selfish and yelling at him. SpongeBob grabs Squidward's hand to shake it and is shocked as well. Patrick thinks SpongeBob and Squidward are dancing and he wants to join the fun so he grabs on and gets shocked also. Squidward turns back to his old grumpy self, and SpongeBob and Patrick also turn into grouches.

SpongeBob: Can I tell it this time, Squidward? Pretty please? Whenever Squidward sees us, the storm clouds in his brain roll in and a nasty storm rages. So, Squidward's happy gland is forced to take shelter in the recesses of his mind. But the happy gland can't find a recess deep enough, so he gets the flu and has to stay in bed until we leave.

Squidward: And that is why I will never, for as long as I live, and throughout all time and eternity, ever...

Narrator: 3 hours later...

Squidward: And with every fiber of my being, I know that I never want to see you two again...

SpongeBob: Hey, Patrick, did you notice anything different about Squidward?

Patrick: Uh, new glasses?

SpongeBob: No, no, he seems happier.

Squidward: Good night, Bikini Bottom. I love you!

Patrick: He's probably happy about his new glasses.

Observations:

Making Krabby Patties SpongeBob tells Squidward in this episode that making a krabby patty takes years of practice to master but in "Friend or Foe" it reveals SpongeBob made a perfect patty on his first try.

Boy's Bathroom The boy's bathroom door in the Krusty Krab is labeled "buoys" instead of boys.

Having Fun The montage of clips showing SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward having fun was similar to the montage in "My Pretty Seahorse" with SpongeBob and Mystery.

Holidays In SpongeBob's scrap book there are pictures of Squidward dressed up on the 4th of July, Valentine's Day and Easter while he's sleeping.
