In Brief: Mr. Krabs gets SpongeBob and Patrick to spy on Plankton.

Story: A shadow walks up to the Krusty Krab and gets in using the secret code. He goes back into Mr. Krab's office, opens up the safe and takes out the formula. SpongeBob turns on the light to reveal the shadow is Mr. Krabs. He asks Mr. Krabs what he's doing and he says he's just making sure the secret formula is safe and that Plankton hasn't tried to steal it in over a month. Squidward walks in. Mr. Krabs tells them that somebody has to volunteer to do some extra work. Squidward walks out. He tells SpongeBob that he needs to hire someone to spy on Plankton. Patrick comes in and SpongeBob tells him he's gonna be a spy. Patrick says he wants to be a spy too. Mr. Krabs says he can as long as he's quiet. Mr. Krabs gives them a krabby patty with instructions on it and reminds them that the fate of the Krusty Krab is in their hands.

Back at SpongeBob's house he pushes the button on the krabby patty to hear Mr. Krabs instructions. Mr. Krabs tells them the mission is to find out what Plankton's up to and to not let him out of their sight. He also tells them that they need to gather some spy gadgets and if they don't accept the mission they're fired. Mr. Krabs then says the patty will self destruct in ten seconds. SpongeBob and Patrick run around screaming. SpongeBob screams for Patrick to get rid of it. He puts it down his pants and it explodes. This leaves the bottom half of him as just a skeleton. SpongeBob and Patrick go to Sandy's treedome to get some spy gadgets from her. She shows them several things including a knockout ray. She blasts SpongeBob and Patrick with it and then blasts them again to wake them up. Sandy tells them she wouldn't trust them with any of her gadgets. Patrick picks up the knockout ray and puts Sandy to sleep with it making them both laugh.

SpongeBob and Patrick spy from the side of a building. Patrick asks SpongeBob what Plankton is doing. SpongeBob sees him going into "Guppies R Us" to buy some baby clothes. He holds up a pink outfit and asks the clerk if it comes in a negative 5 but they tell him that's the smallest they have. SpongeBob and Patrick spy on him in the store hiding inside some baby clothes. SpongeBob reports in to Mr. Krabs where he writes it on a chalk board. Next, Plankton goes and buys a stamp. Mr. Krabs writes that down as well and comments that this must be the most elaborate scheme ever. SpongeBob and Patrick continue to follow Plankton tip-toeing behind him. They think they are being quiet but the foot steps are like an earthquake to Plankton. He tells them to stop making all that racket. SpongeBob shines a magnifying glass on Plankton so they can spy on him better but they end up catching him on fire. He runs away and SpongeBob and Patrick use their jet pack to catch up to him. Plankton jumps in a soda cup to put himself out. SpongeBob and Patrick fly over him in their jet pack catching him on fire again. The pack detaches causing both of them to skid on the sidewalk, deforming their faces.

SpongeBob and Patrick run over and jump in the spymobile. Patrick pushes the self destruct button causing the car to explode. Patrick pants phone rings. It's Mr. Krabs checking in on them. SpongeBob tells him they've lost Plankton. Mr. Krabs explains to SpongeBob he's not paying him to goof off with Patrick, but SpongeBob comments that he's not getting paid at all. Mr. Krabs says exactly and tells them to get back to work. A recording then tells them to deposit 25 cents. That night SpongeBob and Patrick sneak up on the Chum Bucket roof and SpongeBob asks how they're going to get inside. Patrick says the front door is open. SpongeBob tells him spies don't use the front door and that they've got to find a complicated way inside. Patrick shoots a lazer out of his pants and cuts a hole in the roof. SpongeBob drops down inside with a rope. He lands on the floor and Patrick follows behind falling on top of him. They tell each other to be quiet. Plankton turns on the light and hears them mention a secret mission. He thinks they want to eat at the Chum Bucket without Mr. Krabs finding out. Plankton goes to get a menu and tell Karen that they've got customers. When he leaves Patrick tells SpongeBob his laser pants aren't working right. Plankton comes and offers them a few things off the menu. Suddenly, Patrick's pants go out of control putting holes everywhere and destroying the Chum Bucket.

Plankton thinks Mr. Krabs sent them over to destory his resturaunt so he retaliates. He flies his blimp over to the Krusty Krab causing the inside to get dark. Mr. Krabs sees the blimp outside. They put on the siren and Mr. Krabs tells Squidward to man his battle stations, so he runs into the bathroom. Mr. Krabs raises himself in the crows nest and tells Plankton to bring it on. Plankton blares loud music over a speaker causing the Krusty Krab customers to cover their ears. The customers leave but Mr. Krabs sucks them back in and launches them at Plankton's blimp causing it to fly into the Krusty Krab which destroys it. Plankton stands on the Krusty Krab sign waving a piece of paper saying that he's won. He takes his head off revealing that Plankton is really Mr. Krabs. SpongeBob is shocked. Mr. Krabs explains he stole his own formula because him and Plankton made a bet. The other Mr. Krabs rips his head off revealing that he is really Plankton's Mr. Krabs robot. They bet one dollar that Mr. Krabs couldn't steal his own formula. Patrick rips his costume off to reveal Squidward. This causes SpongeBob to rip Squidward's face off but he wasn't wearing a disguise. Fake Squidward rips his costume off again to reveal Sandy, then SpongeBob. SpongeBob rips his costume off to reveal Patrick, and then Patrick rips off his suit to reveal another SpongeBob. The other Patrick rips off his suit to reveal SpongeBob again. SpongeBob says there's just one thing he doesn't understand. Two Patrick's are standing side by side laughing.

Mr. Krabs: Is it dark or have I put off my cataract surgery too long?

Squidward: No, Mr. Krabs. It's that time of the month.

Mr. Krabs: Merciful Neptune. *red light flashes* Man your battle stations!

Squidward: I'm on it! *runs into bathroom and flushes toilet*

Chum Bucket menu Unlike other episodes (Mermaidman vs. SpongeBob, for example) Plankton actually has food to serve customers.
