In Brief: When Jim, the original Krusty Krab fry cook comes for a visit SpongeBob worries he'll take his job back.

Story: Old Man Jenkins is ordering at the Krusty Krab but is taking forever. He says he can't decide what to order but Squidward tells him that he's already ordered. SpongeBob's in the kitchen drawing a ketchup heart on one of the patties. Squidward looks outside and a solid gold limosine is pulling up in front of the Krusty Krab. Everyone runs outside to see who it is, stepping over SpongeBob. Jim, an overweight bald, blue fish steps out. It's the original fry cook before SpongeBob came along. Mr. Krabs and Squidward are thrilled to see him again. Squidward thinks back to how things used to be at the Krusty Krab when Jim worked there. Back then he had long, flowing blonde hair. The flashback ends and everyone laughs, including SpongeBob. He tells Squidward that they've had good times too, but he disagrees with SpongeBob. Jim walks over to the Employee of the Month wall. Mr. Krabs punches it knocking off all of SpongeBob's pictures revealing a gigantic picture of Jim underneath. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob to sweep up the mess while he and Jim catch up.

Jim tells Mr. Krabs that after he left the Krusty Krab he worked at some of the finest restuarants under the sea and got so successful he was able to retire in luxury. SpongeBob walks up to Jim and asks him to sign his krabby patty (which has a shoe print from being stepped on). Jim tells him he doesn't sign what he doesn't make. Mr. Krabs asks Jim to stand behind the frier again for old times sake. Jim says he's going to have to charge him. Mr. Krabs laughs hysterically. Everyone gathers around the kitchen entrance as Jim goes in. Jim's bodyguards block the entrance though. He rings the bell and holds up a krabby patty through the ordering window. SpongeBob is skeptical until he takes a bite. He imagines himself as a krabby patty riding on a rainbow. SpongeBob approaches Jim, while he is flirting with some girls and asks him for some tips. He says he wants to learn at the feet of the master. Jim agrees to teach him.

SpongeBob and Jim start their training in the kitchen. SpongeBob hands Jim a krabby patty he just made. Jim takes it to the bathroom and flushes it down the toilet. He tells SpongeBob the pickle slices were too thick. SpongeBob grills another one and concentrates very hard making it levatate in the air until Jim tells him to stop. Jim then steps on one of the krabby patties and gets his foot covered with mustard. He tells him that he put too much mustard on it. SpongeBob continues to make more and more patties but Jim flushes every single one of them down the toilet. The toilet overflows because there are so many of them in there. SpongeBob starts crying and Squidward comes and knocks on the bathroom door. He tells Squidward that he's leaving and Jim will be taking his place. SpongeBob goes and sits on the pile of water-soaked patties in the toilet and writes a resignation letter to Mr. Krabs. When he comes out of the bathroom he notices a crowd of people towards the front of the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob to come over and help them cheer for Jim.

SpongeBob walks into the kitchen and leaves the resignation letter under a bun in a patty on the grill. He goes around and says goodbye to everything in the kitchen and then goes in the freezer to say goodbye to all the frozen patties. Mr. Krabs comes in and SpongeBob hides in the freezer. He reads SpongeBob's letter and gets very upset. Jim comes in and Mr. Krabs tells him that SpongeBob thinks he's gonna take his job. Jim says that's a great idea and that Mr. Krabs can give him a raise. They both laugh. SpongeBob comes out of the freezer and tells Mr. Krabs he was just leaving and that he's not fit to inhabit the same kitchen as Jim. Jim tells him that he is not taking his job at all. He then begins to explain to SpongeBob why he quite working at the Krusty Krab in the first place. They flashback to Squidward and Jim talking at the Krusty Krab years earlier. Jim tells Squidward that they should open up their own restuarant and stop lining Mr. Krabs pockets. Squidward tells Jim he's just working there until his clarinet career takes off. Jim tells him it might never take off and goes to talk to Mr. Krabs. He sits down in his office and asks for a raise but Mr. Krabs laughs hysterically at him. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that he's got one quality Jim would never have, he's cheap. Jim says SpongeBob will never be a great frycook until he gets the nerve to quit working at that dump. SpongeBob says that the Krusty Krab isn't a dump. Mr. Krabs says it's a dump, but it's his dump.

Quotes:

Old Man Jenkins: I just can't decide what to order.

Squidward: You already ordered.

Old Man Jenkins: Don't rush me, young lady!

Jim: Hey, Mr. Krabs, gotta second?

Mr. Krabs: Anything for you, Jimmy, me boy. Have a squat and lay your wreck and tell me what's on your wind, Jim.

Jim: Cut the gas, Krabs, and dig this: I've been busting my cong for you. You'd better lay on some extra gravy, or I'm going to agitate the gravel.

Mr. Krabs: What now?

Jim: You know, lay a patch.

Mr. Krabs: 'Scuse me?

Jim: Give me a raise, or I'm quitting.

Mr. Krabs: That's not in my "Hiptionary". Help me get with it, Jack.

Jim: Stop talking like that.

Mr. Krabs: These sideburns aren't real. *Mr. Krabs rips them off*

Jim: I need more money in my paycheck at the end of every week, kapeish? *Mr. Krabs busts out laughing*

Mr. Krabs: *Flash back ends* Ah, it's still as funny today as it was then. You see, SpongeBob, you have one quality that Jim would never have: You're cheap!

SpongeBob: Wow! I never thought about it like that, Mr. Krabs!
